Trisha’s initial inspiration for this song came from the Jaybirds’ collaborations with the classical Chinese ensemble, Red Chamber, and from her reading about the history of the Chinese railway workers who contributed so many miles of rail to the Canadian Railway. She presented it to John as a potential co-write and they took it the rest of the way from there together. A new spin on the familiar bluegrass theme of railways, and a tribute to the Chinese railway workers.
